Special Cargo and Dangerous Goods Import/Export Agent- LAX

Job Description:

I.K. Hofmann USA seeks a detail-oriented Special Cargo & Dangerous Goods Import/Export Agent for our Los Angeles Cargo facility. This role ensures safe, compliant handling of high-value and regulated shipments, including lithium batteries, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors.

Pay Range Starting at $30.15

Key Responsibilities:

• Double-check dangerous goods (esp. lithium batteries): verify labels/markings, review airway bills, complete paper/electronic records.
• Confirm dangerous goods handling qualifications for transit shipments (esp. China Southern Airlines stations).
• Prioritize and process temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and other special cargo; coordinate build-up with tarpaulins; maintain photo documentation.
• Collect and relay information on shipments refused by China Southern Airlines.
• Assist with printing/updating shipment documents.
• Manage ULD inventory, especially PGA pallet stock.
• Update flight ETA/ETD for next 2–3 days.
• Coordinate with warehouse agents: monitor cargo transfers, address missing shipments/irregularities, resolve electronic declaration issues.
• Support timely offloading/storage of inbound cargo and build-up of outbound shipments; supervise handovers between warehouse/ramp agents for efficiency.
• Assist with customer claims, investigate cargo damage, provide feedback.
• Help station manager with monthly warehouse agent inspections.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED desired.
• Cargo, logistics, or warehouse experience preferred.
• Flexible schedule for variable shifts.
• Detail-oriented, strong with documentation/regulatory compliance.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain stationary for extended periods.
• Computer proficiency; strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Mandarin Speaker preferred but not mandatory
